I'm a griever first, a human who's experienced profound loss. Yes, I'm also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), but this podcast comes from my heart, not just my credentials.
In 2014, my world fucking shattered when my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Four years of anticipatory grief and her eventual death in 2018 taught me life's cruelest lesson: nothing in life is guaranteed. Just as I began to slightly navigate that loss, my sister's unexpected death in 2022 slammed me with a new wave of grief and trauma- totally different from what I had experienced with my mom.
With both of their deaths, I learned a few profound lessons:
These are the foundational reasons as to why I created Nothing Happens for a Reason. This podcast is a space for unfiltered grief, free from fucking empty platitudes, where we can acknowledge the chaos and find connection in our shared vulnerability.
